Guimarães Rosa and Luiz Marinho, paid attention to a historical period in Brazil and translated in their literary works A hora e a vez de Augusto Matraga and A derradeira ceia, respectively, social, political and even existential issues with great sensitivity. These two works, however, bring surprising coincidences, despite being located in different “sertões”. Both emphasize the drama of survival in regions where the law is that of the strongest or the most powerful, but also bring the mysticity that gets confused with religiosity and the culture that makes man emerge, any man, who is light and dark at the same time.References
