Occluded and modern: the feminist poetics of Alfonsina Storni in “Você me quer branca”

The involvement of Alfonsina Storni (1892-1938) with the feminist struggle in Argentina at the start of the 20th century was transposed into a combative and imagetic lyric speech. Thus, the present study analyzes the poem “Você me quer branca” (1918). By contemplating men’s desire for the sexual purity of women, Alfonsina questions Argentina’s patriarchal morality. This article aims to reflect on the reception of Alfonsina's work, according to the writings of Jorge Luis Borges (2010; 2011), as well as on the feminist perspective of the author, according to Beatriz Sarlo (2003), Ana Cristina Cesar (2016) and Karine de Rocha Oliveira (2009).
