The aim of the work was to provide suggestions for primary school geography teachers, using music as a tool to address the Transversal Contemporary Themes (TCTs) present in the State of Piauí, established by the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). The specific objectives are: I) Discuss TCTs at BNCC; II) Develop didactic and pedagogical proposals using music as a tool for TCTs in the State of Piauí established by BNCC. The choice for the theme was due to the pedagogical relevance that music presents to the cognitive development of students, as well as to expand discussions on the use of diverse teaching resources in teaching school geography by teachers, such as different songs. Furthermore, songs can offer a unique way of contextualizing themes, both geographical and from other areas, relating them directly to the culture, history and reality of the State of Piauí. The research was methodologically based on readings in books, dissertations, scientific articles, in which the following databases were used: Google Scholar, BNCC, CAPES periodical portal and Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) that deal with the Transversal Contemporary Themes (TCTs). It is considered that music can help to work on issues of multiculturalism and the environment. The suggestions presented serve as examples of how to explore these multidisciplinary cross-cutting themes, regardless of the specific content or scientific area.
