This article investigates the extent to which the Capibaribe Park, being implemented in Recife, dialogues with aspects of socio-spatial inequality and environmental justice. The survey took the census sector as the unit of analysis, using microdata from the 2022 Demographic Census of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and August 2025 as a baseline. 31 urban free spaces were mapped for leisure space and interaction with the natural environment, 800 m buffers were applied with a 300 m crossing window and two counterfactual scenarios were constructed to estimate incremental effects of the project. In addition, percentage gaps were calculated between the most favored and least favored categories in income, color/race, and afforestation. The results indicate three main findings: territorial coverage expanded modestly and remained concentrated; recent gains occurred mainly in areas where the previous network was already dense, especially in Political-Administrative Region 3 (RPA 3); and the gaps remained high, evidencing the persistence of hierarchies of income, color/race, and afforestation. Between 2016 and 2025, the variations were discrete and insufficient to reconfigure the general picture, indicating the maintenance of patterns of inequality in access to leisure space and interaction with the natural environment in the municipality. It is concluded that, although the design of the Capibaribe Park is pertinent, its distributive effectiveness depends on the territorial sequencing of deliveries, which reinforces the need for public monitoring and future studies aimed at effective uses and appropriation flows.
