Many efforts have been made to develop models in order to predict the thermal conductivity of soil based on the easiest parameter to be determined. However, many models require the specification of parameters that at most of them varies in time and space, and are often obtained by experiment in situ. Some specifications of these properties significantly affect the model behavior, making it necessary to its calibration. The objective of this study was to determine the influence of residual and saturated moisture, porosity, quartz content and soil bulk density, of the ground thermal characterization, in the Johansen’s model. It was observed that the model presented results for thermal conductivity into two distinct regions, by Kersten’s number. The parameters that affect the thermal conductivity of soil in order are: the residual moisture, the quartz content, saturated humidity, soil bulk density, and porosity. The model features a high sensitivity to soil moisture content, less than or equal to 0.10 cm³/cm³, independent of the values of the parameters analyzed. It also points out that when the residual moisture is considered, should avoid the use of the Johansen model for values near to it.
