Que tens, Caralho?: comical and rebellious aspects in O elixir do pajé, by Bernardo Guimarães

Bernardo Guimarães, in O elixir do pajé, traces a poetic project in the image of the male body that, according to Candido, assumed at the same time a rebellious and militant attitude. Added to this attitude is a vocabulary naturalization that coincides with the utopian vision advocated by Bakhtin in his study of popular comedy. The images of the personified phallus and the hermit indigenous violate the traditional romantic logic, which previously served an erudite dimension. We propose here to examine the form of the poem in order to identify in its structure the forms that give it the elements that attack and demean traditional literary values.
