Echoes of contemporary times: poetic considerations in the song “Con-strução” (1971), by Chico Buarque

This article aims to present a theoretical-analytical collaboration on the intrinsic relationships between poetry and song in the song Construção (1971), by Chico Buarque. The dialogue is permeated by the idea of echoes of contemporary times, which seeks, in the origins, answers for such a relationship. The notions of poetry, intersemiosis and in-betweenness in authors such as Diógenes (2018), Pucheu (2014), Sánchez (2013) and Siscar (2005) are essential to understanding the contemporary work of art. Construção (1971) is, then, read as a self-referential poem, which points to the procedural in-between, comprising poetry and song in a post-autonomous sense – in other words, using its theoretical-ontological imbrication as an analytical path.
