This article aims to analyze the last 40 years of precipitation and identify patterns of rain in the catchment area of the river Espiranhas – PB. For this was used six posts rainfall precipitation data located in the study area, precipitation data were obtained from AESA and ANA. The pluviometric stations had few flaws, however, a gap filling technique was applied. It was subsequently made double mass analysis, the arithmetic average stroke. Was used rain anomaly index (IAC) to set the frequency of dry and wet years. Thus, the present study found that the total precipitation decreased significantly over the years.
Keywords: Rainfall; hydrographic basin; climate variability; IAC.
