The term vulnerability has been used more frequently, aiming at the effects of climate change on society and having different causes, and its analysis must take into account the cultural, economic and social contexts of a population. In this context, this research aims to contribute to the analysis of vulnerability in the State of Sergipe, with a view to reducing the effects caused by climate and social changes. For this purpose, the General Vulnerability Index (GVI) was applied, based on epidemiological and climatic indicators in the period from 2008 to 2022 and socioeconomic indicators during the last IBGE census, which was carried out in 2010. The results show that the municipality of Aracajú had the highest IVG value (0.44), with high vulnerability, with the highest epidemiological vulnerability index (1.00) and one of the lowest climate vulnerability index (0.23) and the lowest socioeconomic index (0.08). On the other hand, the municipality of Cumbe showed a low vulnerability, with the value of the IVG (0.08), explained by the minimum value of the climate vulnerability index (0.09) and low levels of epidemiological vulnerability (0.00) and socioeconomic ( 0.13). The study makes it possible to spatially locate the most vulnerable areas, emphasizing the importance of these tools to guide resource allocation, formulation and implementation of more appropriate public policies.
