Neste capítulo, procurarei, a partir de uma reflexão a propósito da história de África, propor pistas que contribuam, em paralelo, para descentrar as narrativas eurocêntricas dominantes, apostando numa tecedura da história enquanto rede global, composta de múltiplas narrativas interligadas (Meneses, 2007). Nos dias que correm, as discussões sobre as condições para ultrapassar as raízes coloniais do presente modelo linear da história surgem, sem dúvida alguma, como uma peça fundamental do desafio mais amplo da criação de um diálogo intercultural (Santos, Meneses e Nunes, 2005). Qualquer conhecimento, porque necessariamente parcial, situado, produz efeitos múltiplos e contraditórios, repletos de ignorâncias. A construção deste diálogo constitui, acima de tudo, um desafio à compreensão mais ampla das raízes da desigualdade no mundo, em que o não-reconhecimento da diversidade epistémica é um compasso reivindicativo.
