About the Journal

The REVISTA DEBATES INSUBMISSOS* (DEBIN) is a publication by the Research Group on Social Movements, Education and Diversity in Latin America, which is affiliated with both the Contemporary Education Graduate Program at the Federal University of Pernambuco and the Center for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra.

The Journal was created by its Editors to address the need to bring together diverse voices to foster a more democratic relationship between various types of knowledge, articulating academic knowledge with grassroots knowledge rising from collective struggles for social justice. Priority is given to articles that bring together theoretical debates and experiences in the field of education, mainly the ones that highlight social movements, diversity, and democracy. Manuscripts from other areas that intersect with education or contribute to its advancement are also of interest to the Journal.

Publishes: Free scientific articles or in dossiers, interviews, reviews, reports on experiences.

The Journal publishes scientific articles in the Free Articles and Dossier Sections. Additionally, other content and languages are published in the Unsubmissive Papers Section: interviews, essays, reviews, critical poems, etc.

DEBIN can also publish up to two special editions per year - with a maximum of 10 articles each edition - on a single theme, organized by researchers of national or international reference in the thematic area. These special editions will be created based on a selection and evaluation process of manuscripts submitted as a response to call for papers publicized on the journal’s website, through research networks, at scientific events, and among scientific groups. The Editors and Editorial Staff will analyze proposals for organizing a special issue taking into account the theme’s relevance and its alignment with editorial policies.

Ad hoc evaluators review every scientific article published on DEBIN using a double-blind review process. Authors who have ORCID will receive priority in the selection of articles for publication.

Each article submitted must have up to three authors. At least one of the authors must have a doctorate.

When an article is written by authors with different degrees, those who have a doctorate. degree or are doctoral student should be listed first. Co-authors should have at least a complete undergraduate degree.

Articles may be written in Portuguese, Spanish, English, French or Italian. In every article, an abstract in English must be included in addition to the abstract in the language of the manuscript.

Registration on this site is required to submit articles for review.
