The culture of rape in ovidian mythological narratives

With the advent of the feminist movement, a struggle began to reconstruct the history of women and with it build solid foundations that would show society that the difference between men and women was a socio-historical construction. Our article aims to present some of the mythological narratives contained in the work Metamorfoses, by Ovid, which expose some passage where it is possible to identify cases of sexual violence against women, highlighting the culture of rape; and comment on them. As a basis for our reflections, we used, as theoretical references, Malisse (2018), Lerner (2019), Frontis (2006) and Richlin (1992).
