O presente trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a vulnerabilidade socioeconômica no entorno da bacia hidráulica do açude Jatobá II, no semiárido paraibano. A metodologia utilizada baseou-se em visitas in loco e aplicação de questionários aos moradores que vivem no entorno da bacia hidráulica. A vulnerabilidade socioeconômica encontrada foi de 50,0%, considerada muito alta. A renda da população que reside no entorno da bacia é muito baixa, sendo composta por aposentadoria, bolsa família e seguro safra. Para complementar a renda as famílias dos entrevistados realizam outras atividades como agricultura no período chuvoso, pecuária dentre outras atividades, pois os benefícios não suprem as despesas das famílias. O saneamento é inexistente nessa área, além disso, a seca severa prejudica a população que vive no entorno da bacia hidráulica, a água consumida provém de cisternas, carros pipa e poços artesianos. A vulnerabilidade socioeconômica muito alta encontrada na área de estudo demonstra a inexistência de políticas públicas efetivas que visem contribuir com ações voltadas a capacitar, informar e sanar os problemas existentes, podendo comprometer de forma direta ou indireta a saúde dos moradores.
A B S T R A C T
This current term paper had the objective to analyze the socioeconomic vulnerability in the surroundings of the hydraulic basin of the Jatobá II dam, in semiarid region of Paraíba. In order to carry out the work, questionnaires were used to evaluate the socioeconomic conditions of the residents of the Jatobá II dam basin, regarding the measurement of vulnerabilities. In addition, bibliographic research was carried out in specialized websites, articles, periodicals, dissertations, theses and books related to the topic. The methodology used in the diagnosis of socioeconomic vulnerability was adapted from Rio Grande do Sul to the Paraíba semiarid. The socioeconomic vulnerability found was 50,0%, it is considered very high (>45%). The income of resident population of the basin is very low, composed of retirement, government family assistance and crop insurance. In order to complement families’ income, the interviewees perform other activities, such as agriculture, in rainy season, livestock and other activities, because the government benefits do not supply the household expenses. Sanitation is non-existent in this area, besides, severe drought, prejudice population that lives around the basin, the water consumed comes from cisterns, water trucks and artesian wells. The socioeconomic vulnerability found in this research area was very high, it demonstrate the inexistence of effective public policies aimed at contributing to actions on capacitating, informing and to solve existing problems, which may directly or indirectly compromise health of the residents.
